Beer Bread

Doesn't that look amazing?  It should considering that a whole stick of butter is melted on the top.  Beer bread was first introduced to me while at a Tastefully Simple party.  I didn't know that there was a "knock off" bread I could make, so back when I was a naive cook I spent like $8.00 for a box of mix not including the beer or butter.  You could truly make this for WAY, WAY less than including the beer and butter.  It tastes just like the mix, only cheaper.  Apparently, you can make the box mix with soda...I would assume you could do the same with this one, I have not tried it with soda yet, only beer.  Let me know if you give it a try with soda.

3 cups self-rising flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 bottle (12 ounces) of beer
1/2 cup melted butter

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.  Spray a loaf pan with cooking spray.  In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and beer.  The batter should be really lumpy!!!  Don't over mix it!  Spoon it into the loaf pan and pour butter on top.  Bake for about 45 minutes or until it gets all golden brown.

I've made these in mini-loaves before, just as yummy. I have served this with a meal but usually I make it as an appetizer served with beer dip.
